An overview of the library and research resources available to students in the Vet Tech program.

Please refer to the above guide if you need support with library research. This guide will introduce you to some of the main concepts you will need to be familiar with, and will help you start your research.

How to Use This Guide

This library guide is intended to be a finding aid to help connect you to different resources related to academic assignments that you will need to complete in the Veterinary Technician Program. 

The tabs at the top of the page have broken down the guide into the following categories: 

  • Online Research Databases & Journals - information about Veterinary specific research databases and journals
  • Citation Resources - information about how to cite your sources
  • Merk Veterinary Manual - Online version of the reference book containing information about veterinary diseases, treatments, and other topics.
  • eBooks - online access to eBooks in the Weaver Library databases
  • Types of Studies & Study Design Terminology - definitions and descriptions of different types of scientific studies. This may be helpful when conducting research or reading research articles.
  • Clinical Questions - information on how to write a clinical question using the PICO and PEO methods

Great Falls College Academic Success Center - Tutoring

General Information - The Academic Success Center in Weaver Library

The Academic Success Center offers tutoring in a range of subjects for Great Falls College students. To schedule a tutoring session or view the tutoring schedule, visit the Academic Success Center website. Their website will have information on how you can connect with a tutor virtually. If you live in the Great Falls area, you can stop by for drop in tutoring at the Academic Success Center, which located in the back of Weaver Library.

Online Writing Submissions

You can also submit your written work online for review and feedback from tutors. Tutors can provide feedback on the following: understanding the assignment, brainstorming, outlining, conducting research, introduction/conclusion, main idea/thesis development, organization, content development, focus of paragraphs, transitions, or citations. You can submit your assignment using the Online Writing Submission Form.
